My eyes are still half closed and as I use my phone’s backlight to navigate to the safe room, shut the windows and prepare to quietly move my children so as not to wake them up. I check the news to see where the attacks are originating from, grimly relieved to see that this morning’s wakeup call is sponsored by the Houthis, meaning I would likely not have to spend more than ten or fifteen minutes in the shelter, after which I will try to get another hour of sleep before starting my day. read more
