Program Itinerary

The Living Like a Local journey begins on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, with departure from the United States and arrival in Israel on Thursday, October 16. After settling into Tel Aviv, the group gathers for orientation, personal introductions, and an overview of the program. On Friday, October 17, participants explore the neighborhoods of Tel Aviv and join in a group Shabbat dinner. Saturday, October 18 features a session on current affairs and a visit to the ANU Museum of the Jewish People. The week continues on Sunday, October 19, with Belong Engagement and Encounters, including a volunteering orientation and support in finding a placement. Monday, October 20 is a day to explore Tel Aviv independently, and Tuesday, October 21 offers a reflective session on Israel post-October 7.

On Wednesday, October 22, the group travels to Haifa to engage with local leaders and volunteer in community gardens. The next day, Thursday, October 23, focuses on modern Hebrew culture with a walking tour through Neve Tzedek. Friday and Saturday, October 24–25, are free Shabbat days with recommendations for local experiences. The program resumes on Sunday, October 26, as the new week begins, and on Monday, October 27, participants continue with Belong Engagement and Encounters. Tuesday, October 28, includes a session on Jewish and democratic values in Israel, and Wednesday, October 29, is a free day to explore Tel Aviv. On Thursday, October 30, the group deepens their Hebrew learning before heading north for a Shabbat Field Seminar in the Kinneret.

October 31 to November 1 is spent exploring the north, including visits to the Galilee, Mount Meron, Tzippori, and Druze villages in the Carmel. The group returns to Tel Aviv on Saturday night. Sunday, November 2, is another open day, and Monday, November 3, includes further Belong Engagement sessions. Tuesday, November 4, covers the topic of religion and state, followed by a full-day visit to Jerusalem on Wednesday, November 5, including the Old City, the Hand in Hand School, and the Western Wall. On Thursday, November 6, participants take part in a workshop on Israeli music.

Friday and Saturday, November 7–8, are Shabbat days on your own. Sunday, November 9, offers a chance to rest or explore, and Monday, November 10, features more Belong Engagement. Tuesday, November 11, asks what makes someone Israeli, and Wednesday, November 12, includes a session on the evolution of Hebrew slang. The group departs on Thursday, November 13, for the Negev, where they visit Rahat, Sde Boker, and Ben-Gurion University before spending November 14–15 exploring Ashalim, the Gaza border region, Beit Guvrin, Tel Azeka, and Shar HaGai.

After returning to Tel Aviv on Saturday night, the week begins again on Sunday, November 16, with a relaxed morning and more Belong programming on Monday, November 17. Tuesday, November 18, focuses on Israel and American Jewry, and Wednesday, November 19, includes a study outing to Ramle and Lod. Thursday, November 20, takes participants through Dizengoff Street to engage with locals in Hebrew. Friday and Saturday, November 21–22, are free Shabbat days, with suggestions for cultural experiences and rest.

On Sunday, November 23, the group reflects on their journey and prepares for departure. The program concludes on Monday, November 24, 2025, with a farewell meal and final check-out from housing.
