Program Itinerary

The 33 day Living Like a Local program begins on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, with departure from the United States. Upon arrival in Israel on Thursday, October 16, participants gather for orientation, meet the J² and Belong teams, and settle into their Tel Aviv homes. On Friday, October 17, the group explores Tel Aviv’s neighborhoods and celebrates Shabbat with a shared dinner. Saturday, October 18, includes a session on current affairs and a visit to the ANU Museum. Sunday, October 19, features Belong Engagement and an introduction to volunteering in Israel. Participants spend Monday, October 20, exploring Tel Aviv independently, followed by a session on Israel post-October 7 on Tuesday, October 21.

Wednesday, October 22, takes the group north to Haifa to explore coexistence and volunteer in community gardens. On Thursday, October 23, they dive into the creation of modern Hebrew culture through Neve Tzedek and Trumpeldor Cemetery. Friday and Saturday, October 24–25, are open for personal Shabbat experiences, and Sunday, October 26, begins a new week with time to explore Tel Aviv. On Monday, October 27, Belong programming continues, followed by a session on Israel as Jewish and democratic on Tuesday, October 28. Wednesday, October 29, is free to enjoy Tel Aviv, and Thursday, October 30, includes a Hebrew culture session before heading north for a Shabbat field seminar.

October 31 and November 1 are spent exploring the Galilee and Golan, visiting local communities, hearing from experts, and participating in group Shabbat meals. On Sunday, November 2, the group returns to Tel Aviv, and Monday, November 3, features another Belong Engagement day. Tuesday, November 4, covers religion and state, and Wednesday, November 5, includes a full day in Jerusalem exploring sacred sites and shared spaces. On Thursday, November 6, the focus shifts to Israeli music and cultural memory.

Friday and Saturday, November 7–8, are Shabbat on your own, followed by a relaxed Sunday, November 9. Monday, November 10, includes more Belong programming, while Tuesday, November 11, explores the question of what makes someone Israeli. On Wednesday, November 12, the group examines the evolution of Hebrew slang. The next day, Thursday, November 13, begins a seminar in the Negev, with visits to Rahat, Beersheva, and Sde Boker. Friday, November 14, continues with encounters in Ashalim, the Gaza border region, and memorial sites from October 7.

Saturday, November 15, includes archaeological visits and reflections at Beit Guvrin, Tel Azeka, and Shar HaGai before returning to Tel Aviv. On Sunday, November 16, the group reflects on their time in Israel, prepares to check out, and shares a farewell meal. The journey concludes with flights home on Monday, November 17, 2025.
